Probe and OneBox Calibration
How to Calibrate Device Sample Clocks

In this example:
I set the OneBox slot = 21.
I only need 1 Dock/port for my 1.0 probe.
Wiring:
If you’re just running a single OneBox like
we are here, you don’t have to run any
extra wires…the sync signals are inside the
OneBox. Just plug in your probe. We
plugged into port 1 in this example.
Here we just checked the ‘Enable’ box for
the probe and the OneBox XIO (auxiliary
I/O stream).
Click ‘Detect.
For a calibration run it doesn’t matter
what settings are here: they will be
adjusted automatically.
Note that the ‘Measured’ rate for this
probe is exactly 30000 because it has
never been measured before.
Actually, probes don’t have sample clocks,
rather, the clock is in the head-stage.

Select the OneBox (slot 21) as the square
wave source.
Check the box to do a calibration run.
Set how long to acquire timing data.
Longer is better, but 40 minutes is going to
be pretty accurate.
Note the ‘Sync Help’ button at the
bottom. The help text provides details on
hooking up signals for any kinds of devices
and interpreting result.
The run is automatically
named ‘CalSRate_Date.’
You can stop the run
early if you realize you
messed up or forgot
something.
After your data collection time finishes the data are
automatically analyzed and this results dialog pops up.
You can click ‘Yes’ to apply the results if no bad remarks are
shown here. The help text explains how to judge if a result
looks valid.
The results are saved in your SpikeGLX _Calibration folder
and they are keyed to the headstage or OneBox serial
number.
If you update your SpikeGLX software, please copy the
_Calibration folder into your updated SpikeGLX folder
because these are data about your hardware.
